What I’ve Won August 2017

I am quite a bit behind on my What I’ve Won posts since I was pregnant and didn’t post much. I wasn’t entering much during that time either so I really didn’t have much to share. Today I am starting fresh with my August wins which is a bit later in the month than normal. After I did get back into comping I was prepared to get maybe one or two wins in the first few months. Especially when I took in to account that I wasn’t able to enter anywhere near as many as I was before. When it came to August I wasn’t expecting anything, I didn’t do too badly in the end! I had 6 wins throughout August and I am quite pleased with that!

My first win of the month was also my biggest win of the month. I won a bundle of Make Believe Beauty Tan along with two Easiweft‘s over on Instagram. To enter the I had to follow both brands and tag a friend who would love the bundle too. Recently I have been entering much more on Instagram, I find it much easier to do from my phone while feeding Baby S. This bundle is pretty amazing and is perfect as gifts this Christmas. I know they will be well loved! Continue reading “What I’ve Won August 2017”

The Siblings Project – September

I have always loved reading posts from blogs I love doing their monthly The Siblings Project. Hearing all about how their siblings are doing together, the ups and down and all the adorable photos which accompany them. I have been a bit excited to join in! I kept forgetting over the last few months and I am delighted that I have remembered this month.

D and Baby S have had 3 months together now with most of that time being at home since D finished pre-school just 2-3 weeks after Baby S was born and has only gone to school this past 2 and a bit weeks.

Baby S and D's first meeting

D has been smitten with her from the moment he met her in the hospital and sang her the same song as when she was in my tummy. I was almost in tears! It was the magic moment of their first real hello and I will forever remember how special it was. Continue reading “The Siblings Project – September”

Little Angels Newborn Nappies Review

As a parent the one item you will use most is nappies with the largest daily amount being used in those early weeks. In fact each child will use thousands of nappies before they potty train (it’s a pretty daunting number!). Choosing the right nappies to use is almost as daunting. There are all the big brands, then you have the smaller brands and you also have all the supermarkets own brand ranges to choose from. With D we used a lot of different brands of nappies and finally we settled on Little Angels. Little Angels was the brand of nappy I was going to use for Baby S, so when they got in touch I was excited to see if anything had changed about them.

If you have never heard of Little Angels, they are ASDA‘s own brand range of baby items including nappies, wipes, bottles, baby food and toiletries just to name a few. Continue reading “Little Angels Newborn Nappies Review”

D’s Started School – The First Few Days

Last week marked a very big day in D’s life, his first day at school! He has been pretty excited all summer about the prospect of going into primary one. Towards the end of summer he was getting a bit frustrated that it wasn’t yet time to start school. When the week of starting school finally came along he was delighted!

D Starting School

His first day started out with an early morning wake up call. D is not a fan! Not because it’s early but he isn’t pleased that he doesn’t get to come in to my bed in Continue reading “D’s Started School – The First Few Days”

Sudocrem Care & Protect Review

One of the things new parents will always worry about is how to protect their children. It is an instinct and starts from those words “We’re having a baby” are said. One thing we tend to forget about protecting against is nappy rash (well with D I never even thought of it!). I was contacted about trying out Sudocrem’s Care & Protect I thought it was a great idea for a product!

Sudocrem is a household name and we always have a pot on hand, even before I had D! However you may not know that Sudocrem started way back in 1931 when Thomas Smith, a retail pharmacist from Dublin developed a new and unique cream. A cream that treated nappy rash and eczema among many other minor skin lesions. It wasn’t until the 1940’s after needing a bigger premises for the popular new cream to be manufactured that it became known as Sudocrem. The care & protect product range was launched in 2013 and both products are still made in Dublin, right on this island we call home! (Well we do live in Northern Ireland).

Sudocrem Care & Protect

The Sudocrem Care & Protect cream works by creating a barrier between your baby’s bottom and all the chemicals inside their wee and poo which cause nappy rash. Not only does Sudocrem Care & Protect create a barrier, it also conditions the skin and guards against infection. This is thanks to the triple action formula. The cream is hypoallergenic and has been dermalogically tested so you know it’s safe to use on your baby. It can in fact be used from birth

Sudocrem Care & Protect - showing barrier against water

To show you just how well that barrier works (and to really test this out for myself ) I added a small amount of cream to my hand. After rubbing it in, I poured a small amount of water onto my hand. Not one drop soaked into my skin after a minute or two (as shown in the above picture). In fact it simply started to roll off my hand and pool on the table underneath.

Easy Pop Open lid on Sudocrem Care & Protect

Sudocrem Care & Protect comes in a rather handy little squirt tube which has a top which stays attached to the bottle. I actually love the tube and lid, It is so much easier to pop the top off and squirt out some cream! I actually think they need to find a way to use a tube like this for Sudocrem itself. There’s no unnecessary mess involved and you can easily complete a nappy change while adding cream without having to use both hands! Opening the lid is really easy and the soft tube means little force is needed to get a small amount out.

When Baby S was born I didn’t actually use the Sudocrem Care & Protect cream right away. I didn’t actually use it until she was about 3 weeks old and had started to get a slightly red bottom. I had forgotten to try it. I did use some Sudocrem to treat her bottom (just in case it was the start of nappy rash) and began using Sudocrem  Care & Protect as soon as the redness cleared. I am still using Sudocrem Care & Protect now through the night (We use reusable nappies during the day and it is not recommended to use a cream with them). It does seem to work, baby S has never had a nappy rash and it feels soft and smooth going on which is actually much easier than some creams too.

I think that Sudocrem Care & Protect is perfect for parents all over. It’s a great size for on the go and it helps to protect your baby from nappy rash. I plan to use Care & Protect for as long as we are using disposable  nappies.

You can purchase Sudocrem Care & Protect in store and online at Boots, Ocado and all major supermarkets. you can purchase Sudocrem Care & Protect using the link at £1.99 for the 30g tube.

Lansinoh breastfeeding products review

While I was pregnant I had a lot of things on my list of items that I needed to get and decide which brands I would be using. I had tried many different brands with D and some I loved and some I hated. However I was very aware that in 4 years there could be a major difference in the products. I wasn’t sure if the products would be the same so when I was contacted about trying some Lansinoh products I had to say yes. They had been my favourite brand with D especially for their Lanolin.
